Survivors of family violence

We have supported Aviva, a provider of family violence services, (formerly the Christchurch Women’s Refuge) to deliver its Specialist Peer Support and Pathways to Employment programme, which trains people who have overcome violence to support others who are working on building a violence-free future.

"Good Shepherd has helped us provide our Specialist Peer Support service to connect people with peers who have experienced or used violence and are now violence-free. This support has enabled Aviva to employ and train people with their own experience of overcoming violence to walk with those who are building violence-free futures.

Providing a range of services across the family and sexual violence continuum – from crisis to prevention – is the most effective way of supporting people who are experiencing violence and its ongoing effects. We are very appreciative of Good Shepherd’s support and encouragement to continue providing these services that create positive change in people’s lives."
