Anne Astin
Director
Lives on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation country in Australia.
Anne is an experienced Board member, Chair and Executive. She has more than 30 years working in diverse areas, including science education, food safety regulation, land management, and social services.
Anne is a strong advocate for ensuring ethical values and integrity in organisational mission are maintained alongside strong corporate governance. She is passionate about advocating for those in our society who are not able to do so, empowering and promoting women, promoting women in leadership, sustainability in the food industry and environment, and elevating organisational governance.
Anne holds a PhD in Biochemistry. In addition to being a Director on our Board, she is currently holds various Board Chair and Director roles in Australia and New Zealand. These include governance roles for New Zealand’s Food Safety Science and Research Centre (NZ), Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand (AU), Good Shepherd Services (AU), and Food Agility Co-operative Research Centre (AU).
She has received numerous awards including the Australian Dairy Industry Council’s Outstanding Service Award and the John Bryant Gold Medal. In 2010, she was inducted into the Victorian Women’s Honour Roll in addition to being awarded a Public Service Medal (PSM) in 2011 and an Order of Australia Medal (AM) in the General Division in 2020.
