Donate to women
and girls

Your donation is incredibly powerful. It can keep someone safe, give them a break, and provide an opportunity. Unless you tell us otherwise, we pass 100% of your donation onto women, girls and their families. Thank you for considering making a donation.

We provide small grants to women, girls and their families alongside our service delivery. Sometimes a small amount can keep someone safe, give them a break, and/or be the difference between spiralling down and spiralling up.

For example, we have provided a small grant to:

  • Buy groceries for a mum of seven leaving a violent relationship, while we worked alongside her to address the impact of economic abuse
  • Enable car repairs for a women who needed her car to get to cancer treatments
  • Pay a $16 road toll bill, which meant a police officer could get a no-interest car loan to transport her child with special needs
  • Buy a fridge for the mum of a baby and toddler leaving a violent relationship, who were forced to live on takeaways in an empty house
  • Pay rent arrears for a women who was going to be evicted, preventing homelessness and enabling her to become employed.

We’re able to do this thanks to the generous donations from everyday people who care and want to give.

Our grants are paid directly to a retailer or creditor, not as cash to our clients, except in rare situations. This lowers risk for the people receiving the grant and helps to ensure the grant is used as intended. Thank you for considering making a donation. There are various ways to do this.

Leave a gift in your will

Leaving a gift in your will means your legacy of generosity and impact continues after your death.

You might like to specify what the gift is used for — eg donations for clients, staff training, research or service delivery. We always need money for our operations. Unfortunately, more people are experiencing harm and disadvantage than we have resources to support. Unless you tell us otherwise, we will pass 100% of your bequest to clients.

Once you specify your gift in your will, the managers of your estate will donate the money on your behalf. Bequest payments can be made to our bank account:

We would love to hear a bit more about you and properly acknowledge your generosity. You might also need a tax receipt. If a bequest is made, please email accounts@goodshepherd.org.nz. We will send a tax receipt and acknowledge your bequest as appropriate and in line with your wishes.
