We’re supporting the #OrangetheWorld movement, which is part of the United Nations #16daysofActivism against gender-based violence.
Orange represents a brighter future, free from violence against women and girls.
To show our support, our staff got together in orange, to remember 25th November 1641, when the first Good Shepherd Refuge opened in Caen France.
It was around this time when Madame Lamy courageously called out to the local Parish Priest – “All fine to talk about good works, but what are you going to do for the women and children hungry and living on the streets in our village?”
This question catalysed the response that has resulted in Good Shepherd now being in 73 countries around the world working together to end violence against women and girls.
We remembered with gratitude those who have gone before us and led the way by working so hard to make a difference for women and their families – and how we must keep challenging ourselves to do more and better.
