We tackle the significant issues impacting women, girls and families. 

Good Shepherd NZ is a charitable non-government organisation that was established to address the critical, contemporary issues facing women, girls and families. 

Good Shepherd has been supporting better futures for women, girls and families experiencing disadvantage in New Zealand for 130 years, led by the Good Shepherd Sisters. Good Shepherd NZ was established in 2012 to continue the Sisters’ work.

Through our work, we continue the mission of the Good Shepherd Sisters and envision a world that is just, equal and upholds human rights for all.

Our strategic priorities

1. Build financial wellbeing

Our wider network

Good Shepherd NZ is part of a global network spanning more than 70 countries.

The Good Shepherd International Foundation, the umbrella organisation of each Good Shepherd, has Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations for its work with women and girls.

Good Shepherd NZ is part of the Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand network.
It draws on the collective expertise within this network, especially in the areas of economic participation and wellbeing, safety and resilience.

Good Shepherd NZ also works closely with Good Shepherd Asia Pacific to unite on global campaigns that support women and girls to be safe and enjoy economic security and fulfilment.
